When I began this project I though it would be good to remember those who did pay the ultimate price on this daring mission. Lancaster AJ-M flown by John Hopgood was the second to cross the Mohne Dam. Being the second meant that all the enemy gunners were wide awake and ready. AJ-M was hit hard and crashed about 2km away but 2 of her crew, the bomb aimer John Fraser, and the tail gunner Tony Burcher made record breaking low level bailouts and survived the war as POW's.

Meeting some of the crew who actually flew this famous mission was a real pleasure.

The original canvas print with 4 crew signatures was purchased by Peter Jackson of Wingnut Films who is currently working on a Dambuster remake. I didn't see that coming!

Comments most welcome. Hope you enjoy
